Washougal Plaid

The photo above is of a handloom of our Washougal Plaid for Fall 2012. For experimental fabrics, handlooms are often done to make sure the fabric is weaving as hoped. With this plaid, we wanted to recreate the texture and design of a vintage swatch found in Pendleton’s archives. The ability to develop our own fabric is one of the most exciting parts of designing for The Portland Collection. It has been fascinating getting to learn the nuances of wool production from idea stage to final production yardage.
